June 19-20, 2026
Get ready to rev your engines for a good cause! The Hillsdale Post 53 Legion Riders are proudly hosting the Michigan Legacy Run. The ride is a thrilling two-day journey across our beautiful state. The goal? to raise over $100,000 for the American Legion Veterans & Children’s Foundation.
Why Ride?
Imagine a veteran family facing an unexpected crisis: an imminent eviction, utilities shut off, or groceries running low, while juggling the challenges of service-related hardships. That’s where the American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation steps in.
Established in 1925 and now known as the Veterans & Children Foundation, this vital program has delivered tens of millions of dollars in aid to millions of veterans, military families, and children. It provides non-repayable Temporary Financial Assistance grants (up to $1,500) to eligible veteran parents with minor children at home, covering essentials such as housing, food, utilities, and medical expenses. These grants keep families stable during tough times, ensuring no child goes without because of a parent’s service.
In Michigan, these funds, combined with state-level support through the Department of Michigan, help our local heroes right here at home. Your participation in the Legacy Run ensures every dollar raised goes directly to those in need, with 100% of donations supporting veterans and children. The American Legion absorbs all administrative fees, so your contribution makes the maximum impact.
By joining the ride or donating, you’re not just cruising Michigan’s scenic roads; you’re honoring sacrifices, building camaraderie, and changing lives. Past Michigan Legacy Runs have raised tens of thousands annually; together, we can smash $100,000 in 2026!
The Ride: An Unforgettable Journey
1: Thursday, June 18 (Pre-Ride): Registration and social time from 4-8 PM at Monroe American Legion Post 40. Meet Fellow riders, share stories, and pick up exclusive shirts and patches!
Friday, June 19: Kickstands up at 9 AM from Monroe American Legion Post 40. Head west to stunning South Haven, with planned stops along the way.
2: Rest break at Brooklyn American Legion
3: Lunch at Hillsdale POST 53 (Leighr A. Wright Post—Your Home away from home!)
4 &5: Stops at Battle Creek Post 298 and Bangor Post (ALR members: Don’t forget to grab your group plaques from Bangor!)
6: Stay overnight in one of Michigan’s most beautiful posts: South Haven.
7: Saturday, June 20: Depart from South Haven and ride up the breathtaking Lake Michigan coast. With multiple scenic stops (details announced soon), we will ride to the grand finale in Clare, complete with a celebration party, award presentations, and epic ride stories!

Who Can Join?
This ride is open to everyone. You do not need to be affiliated with the American Legion. All motorcycle enthusiasts and supporters of veterans are welcome to join the fun, the camaraderie, and the cause!
