American Legion Riders

Ride with purpose.

We’re a community of motorcyclists who love the open road—and use it to serve. From charity rides and funeral escorts to a welcoming monthly veterans breakfast, the Riders are open to new members (you do not have to be a veteran to join).

”We are really blessed to call the Hillsdale post our home!! We have been blessed with great direction and fantastic opportunities.”

About the Riders

The American Legion Riders are the motorcycle arm of our post. We organize rides for fellowship and fun, mobilize quickly to support veterans’ charities, and stand in honor at funerals and memorial services. Whether you’ve been riding for decades or just got your first bike, you’ll find a place here.

  • What we ride for: camaraderie, charity, and honor

  • Who can join: open to the public—you don’t need to be a veteran

  • How we serve: fundraisers, benefit rides, funeral escorts, flag lines, and community events

What We Do

Organized Group Rides

Weekend loops, scenic backroads, and destination rides—all planned, pre-routed, and led by experienced road captains with safety briefings before kickstands-up.

Charity & Benefit Rides

We ride to raise funds and awareness for veterans’ needs—everything from local assistance to national programs. Expect clearly posted routes, suggested donations, and a cheerful convoy feel.

Funeral & Memorial Support

When a veteran or community member is laid to rest, we provide a dignified escort upon request and can form a flag line at the service. It’s our honor to stand watch and ensure families feel the respect their loved one is due.

Monthly Veterans Breakfast

On the first Saturday of each month, the Riders host a hearty breakfast at the Legion. Veterans, families, supporters, and the community are welcome. Come eat, meet the crew, and learn about upcoming rides.

Join the Riders

You don’t have to be a veteran to ride with us. If you care about veterans and love motorcycles, you’ll fit right in.

Basic steps:

  1. Say hello: Fill out the interest form below or stop by the monthly breakfast.

  2. Bike & license: Street-legal motorcycle, valid license/endorsement, and proof of insurance.

  3. Safety first: Agree to group ride rules and sign a standard ride waiver.

  4. Show up: Join a new-member orientation ride or tail-gun on your first outing.

Dues: Kept modest to cover patches, safety gear, and event costs.
Time commitment: As your schedule allows—ride when you can.

Funeral Escort Requests

Families, funeral homes, and service officers can request a motorcycle escort and/or flag line.

What we need:

  • Service date/time, locations (staging, procession, graveside)

  • Honoree’s name and branch (if applicable)

  • Point of contact (funeral director or family designee)
